Advantages & Disadvantages Samsung Galaxy A80 – At the launch event in Bangkok, Samsung also introduced the Samsung Galaxy A80. Uniquely, the new Galaxy A series device will be the first cellphone with Samsung’s rotating camera.
The Galaxy A80 is the highest series of Galaxy A for now. As the highest series, Samsung embeds various specifications and superior features into it. Of course, not only in terms of cameras but in other parts as well.
In my prediction, the Galaxy A80 will be sold at a very expensive price, although it won’t be as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy S10 Series. However, is this expensive price, the Galaxy A80 is not worth considering?
Advantages Samsung Galaxy A80
#1 Premium Design and Screen
The Galaxy A80 comes like most premium Samsung phones. This device comes with a 3D glass wrapped body that is framed with metal around it. With this combination, this device will feel very comfortable when held.
Meanwhile, if some new cellphones use the new Infinity Display design that has a small area cut off to place the camera, Samsung uses a different design on the Galaxy A80.
Thanks to the rotating camera with a sliding mechanism (pop-up), the Super AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) with a 6.7-inch span on the Galaxy A80 can appear fully without the need to be cut off by a small area to place the camera.
#2 Flagship Equivalent Performance?
The Galaxy A80 uses a new chipset made by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 730G or the Snapdragon 730 gaming version. By relying on this chipset, the Galaxy A80 will certainly offer a very capable performance.
In a note submitted by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 730G has a graphics processor that can work 15 percent more powerful than the standard version. In fact, the Adreno 618 GPU that is embedded in both of these chipsets has been able to outperform its predecessor to 25 percent faster.
Based on the tests conducted by AnTuTu, the chipset used by the Galaxy A80 also gets a pretty high number. In data released by Gizmochina, this chipset can break the score up to 222,538. The figure is quite high compared to the previous series, which only reached 160 thousands.
Even to support the performance of this chipset, Samsung has prepared an 8GB RAM complete with 128GB of internal storage memory. With this support, the Galaxy A80 will offer a better gaming experience.
#3 Front and Rear Cameras are just as good
With a rotating camera mechanism, the Galaxy A80 will offer the highest quality shooting, both for the results of the front and rear cameras. Though usually, most smartphones offer a better rear camera than the front camera.
In more detail, the rotating camera of the Galaxy A80 is a combination of three types of lenses that can produce better images – the main camera that has a resolution of 48 MP (f / 2.0), an 8 MP ultra-wide camera (f / 2 , 2), and 3D cameras or Time of Flight (ToF).
#4 Fingerprint Sensor Embedded on the Screen
Following current trends, Samsung also embeds better security support. Besides presenting the Face Unlock feature, Samsung has embedded fingerprint scanner sensor support embedded in the screen.

Disadvantages Samsung Galaxy A80
The shape is large and thick
Despite carrying a premium design, the shape of the Galaxy A80 is one of the most visible shortcomings for me. Because the camera plays it, the large Galaxy A80 must have a very thick shape. With this shape, the Galaxy A80 will be very difficult to operate using one hand.
Endurance Is Still a Question
The durability of the sliding system while rotating from the camera is a big question for some people. This is quite similar to what was experienced by Vivo Nex and OPPO Find X which introduced the first pop-up camera.
